Where words fail, music speaks.
A genre that grew up with me.
I grew up listening to EDM long before I even knew what “electronic dance music” really meant. For me it was never just about big drops or festival anthems – it was an escape, a place where I could disappear into the beat and feel completely myself.
In 2024, I finally made it to Tomorrowland for its 20th anniversary – the biggest music festival in the world, and the kind of place my teenage self could only dream about. Standing in the crowd, watching the main stage light up, it felt like a full-circle moment.
I know this won’t be my only time there. Tomorrowland is one of those places I want to keep returning to, in different chapters of my life, just to see how both the festival and I have changed.
The first artist I was truly obsessed with.
Lady Gaga was the first artist I was truly obsessed with. I have been a little monster since middle school, and her music arrived at a time when I was still trying to figure out who I was and where I fit in.
She was also my gateway into EDM. Through her collaborations, remixes and the electronic side of her pop, I slowly realised that I loved dance music – not just as something to play at parties, but as a sound that made me feel powerful, dramatic and free.
Her world – the fashion, the visuals, the unapologetic weirdness – taught me that you’re allowed to be loud, emotional and different. A lot of my taste today started with pressing play on her songs over and over again.
